Venturing
Venturing is a coed high adventure program of The Boy Scouts of America. The program is open to freshman in high school through the age of 21. It works to build confidence and instill moral and ethical character development in youth. Venturing focuses on high adventure outdoor activities as well as community service and outreach. Many of our local Ventures’ volunteer with Scouting and their charter organizations.
A strength of the Venturing program is its adaptable programming. A Venture unit can focus on a specific high adventure activity (rock climbing, scuba diving, back packing etc). Using this specific activity they can then share their expertise with other Venture units, or Scouting units to hone their leadership and teaching skills.
These goals are achieved by participating in:
- Outdoor Adventure Activities
- Learning Respect for the Environment
- Leadership from youth and young adult peers
- Community outreach and service
- Training on Citizenship and Leadership
