Scouting's Got Talent... Simon Kenton Council is looking for local talent!  Adventure Base 100 is coming to Columbus May 22-23 and we are looking for local "acts" to entertain during the event.  There is a stage we can fill with music, acting, etc.  Interested in sharing your talent with thousands?  Fill out this form and send in a video of your talent.

Venturing age requirements change... The current age and grade eligibility requirement for participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and completion of the eighth grade.  Effective May 1, 2010, the minimum age requirement will be changed to 14 years of age, or 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade. The maximum age for participation remains under 21 years of age.

Scout Sunday February 7, 2010... Contact your local churches and take part in Scout Sunday the day before Scouting's 100th Anniversary.  Attached is a letter you can take to your Church to explain Scout Sunday and how your Scout unit can get involved.  We've also provided 1/4 and 1/2 page ads you can submit to your Church's newsletters and bulletins. Charter Turn-Ins... Don't forget when turning in your charters to include your Quality Unit form, FOS commitment form, Free Advancement form, etc.  This is important to the completion of your Charter.  The office closes at 3pm, December 31st so get your Charters in!

2010 Philmont Training Schedule...  Information for Philmont during the summer of 2010 is now available.  Conferences are available for individual Scout leaders, but the Training Center also offers programming for the leader's family as well.  Philmont Training Center Information.

Free SAT/ACT software now available for Boy Scout families... In alliance with the Boy Scouts of America, eKnowledge is offering SAT and ACT test prep programs valued at $200, free to Boy Scout families.

EKnowledge recently announced the arrival of the new v6x SAT/ACT PowerPrep™ software; v6x was in development for more than two years at a cost of $1.5 million. It includes more than 20 hours of video instruction, 3,000 files of supplemental test prep material, thousands of interactive diagnostic tools, sample questions, practice tests, and graphic teaching illustrations. The new PowerPrep™ v6x software is Mac- and PC-compatible.
