Customer Service Representatives (as-needed position, Portsmouth/Chillicothe)

We are looking for that special person who would be available to help cover the Trading Post/Retail Scout Offices in Chillicothe and Portsmouth on an as-needed basis to provide coverage for our current staff members. Duties would include waiting on customers in the Trading Post, answering phones, doing daily cash summaries/deposits, etc.

Position Concept
The District Executive is responsible for the effective organization and promotion of Scouting in a specific geographical area (district). Each district establishes goals and objectives that the District Executive is ultimately responsible for achieving. As a member of the districts management team, the District Executive gives guidance to cultivating, recruiting, training and inspiring key volunteer personnel from that district. He/she coordinates the work of the district manpower so that their efforts will strengthen and extend the programs offered by those institutions that charter with the Boy Scouts of America.
Position Qualifications
The basic qualifications are:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• United States citizenship or declared intention to become a U.S. citizen
• Adult—must have attained age 21 unless prohibited by any applicable law
• People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
• Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives
• Believe in the BSA and subscribe to its principles and standards
• Be approved to receive a professional Scouting commission Principal Responsibilities
• Give leadership to the program, as assigned in the district, through the district chairman and district personnel so as to assure an effective plan of service, growth, and the attainment of Quality District status.
• In assigned fund raising programs, give leadership to the recruitment training and guidance of key personnel so as to assure the attainment of financial objectives.
• Using manpower guidelines to recruit and train adequate volunteer personnel so that all assigned district operating committees are functioning effectively.
• Working with the district commissioner staff of your assigned area (s), regularly review commissioner needs and formulate a recruiting and training program to assure unit service, unit membership management, regular Roundtable attendance, and on-time charter renewal for all units.
• Through the district committee, develop a plan of action for the organization and reorganization of units in your service area (s) so as to assure that all Scout age youth are afforded the opportunity to join the Scouting program.
• Develop a plan of action through which each chartered partner head receives an annual visit to review unit leadership and program; reaffirming the relationship and responsibilities between the chartered partner and the council.
• Promote participation in all District and Council events to assure a quality program for our membership.
• Develop and maintain a close relationship with community MEDIA so that public awareness of Scouting is increased.
• Maintain the necessary records and files so as to assure a continuity of service.
Staff/Volunteer Relationships
Recognize the importance of a close and harmonious working relationship with all staff and volunteers. Demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Set a personal example in keeping with the aims of Scouting in character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness.

Position: Program Aide
Salary: $10.00/per hour
Hours: Vary – up to 20 hours per week (additional hours may be available for special events)
Other: Must purchase and wear Boy Scout Uniform and have your own reliable transportation
Commitment:
Give leadership to the development and maintenance of quality Scouting programs located in underserved communities in accordance with the Boy Scouts of America’s Mission Statement.
Specific Responsibilities
• Ensure the delivery of quality programs in all Scouting units.
- Review and become familiar with program materials.
- Follow the prescribed lesson plans, as outlined.
- Supply uniforms, program materials, Scouting literature, and other support as needed by youth and adult members throughout the year.
- Increase program quality through retention of youth and adults, advancement, and youth participation.
- Complete Fast Start, Youth Protection, This is Scouting, leader-specific training, and other advanced training deemed necessary for their areas of responsibility.
• Recruit and support volunteers to help with meetings and activities.
• Provide a well-balanced variety of Scouting activities, including day camps, resident camps, pinewood derbies, camporees, etc.
- Conduct field trips, campouts, cultural activities, and other horizon-broadening experiences for youth members and leaders.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with Scout leaders, Housing Authority management, Parks and Recreation departments, community associations, neighborhood churches, and other youth-serving nonprofit agencies.
- Conduct Scouting awareness functions to increase public exposure, attract volunteers, and recruit youth.
- Seek opportunities for program expansion and give direct leadership to organizing and staffing new Boy Scout troops, Cub Scout packs, and Venturing crews.
- Participate in scheduled or called meetings.
- Implement an annual incentive/recognition program for parents and volunteers who faithfully participate and provide consistent leadership. Serve as an ambassador of the Scouting program who is always striving to deliver the mission of the program.
- Strive to ensure that every youth participant will have the opportunity to earn a minimum of one rank advancement during the program year.
